Gallery talk in celebration of Iranian New Year
Friday 19 March
Dr. Moya Carey, Iran Heritage Foundation Curator for the Iranian Collections
The Book of Kings was completed by the poet Firdawsi in 1010 AD, exactly one thousand years ago, and remains the national epic of Iran. Written in Persian, this lengthy poem describes the dramatic adventures, tragedies and romances of the kings and heroes of ancient Iran. The gallery talk will describe how some of the most legendary Shahnamah episodes are illustrated on art objects.
