Hi
I am an architecture student at the University of Westminster and I am writing about the first Sri Lankan architect, Minnette de Silva. I have been awarded the Young Researchers Grant from the Fondation Le Corbusier in Paris to investigate her early work and education.
She worked as an apprentice with Mistry and Bhedwar architects in Bombay in the 40′s and was very good friends with Minoo and Perin Mistry after being introduced to them by the Khataus and Desais. She then went on to study at the Architectural Academy and then the JJ School.
I hope to meet Cyrus Jhabvala in NY but unfortunately he is unwell. I was wondering whether it would be possible to speak to someone from the Mistry, Khatau, Billimoria, Masani, Barucha families as she kept in touch with all her friends in India. I would like to know any information about Phiroze Mistry as I can’t seem to find any.
