International Day of Peace Vigil
On September 21, the International Day of Peace will be observed as a day of prayer to foster peace worldwide. The objective is to promote one 24-hour community observance per year for every religious congregation in the world, allowing individuals to directly address the issue.
300,000 people participated in the International Day of Peace Vigil in Sri Lanka in 2004
In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly established the International day of Peace (IDP). In 2001, the GA modified the resolution (A/RES/55/282) and designated September 21st as the annual date of the International Day of Peace.
