My dear good friend, Dr. Homi B. Dhalla, is to be congratulated for his untiring efforts at co-ordinating the various details relating to the Zarathusti culture, which are so crucial to the present day Zorastrians and people of other religions too. This excellent work is a tribute to his study and enterprise. People should have his CD in their personal collection and study it. Well done !

  • Very nice videos. Alas, our falling numbers makes me very apprehensive about the future of our community, culture, and uniqueness. The Parsi community will be saved only if members, especially the youth, are desirous of saving it. The rate at which the youth of both sexes are marrying outside, the future of the community and unique culture does not look bright. I am not afraid about the Zoroastrian religion. There are others Zoroastrian groups around the world that will preserve the religion, not the Parsis. Our forefathers came to India to preserve our religion and culture. We did them proud for the last 1000 years. But now I am not so sure. The community can ONLY be saved if all Parsis marry within the community and have 5-6 children like our grandparents. This is unlikely to happen.

  • Dear Ardeshir,
Like you, I too appreciated the effort and interest that has been exhibited in these videos. I wonder if these same teams of archeologists give a thought of visiting parts of Iran, like Yazd, Kerman and Tehran to further disclose the Iranian side of our heritage. I am sure the Iranians will welcome us with open arms and show their hospitality which is well known. The authities are getting more reasonable to foeigners, especially the Zoroastrians, as they have the most respect for us, after all, we are’ the Red Indians of Iran’.

I have full sympathy for our community which is fast dwindling. The best we can do is, to welcome as many nonZoroastrians in our midst as possible and try and bring them on our side for mutual understanding. Also I strongly agree to marry within the community and rear more children. But, just in case if they marry outsiders and have mixed offsprings, then the offsprings be taken in, instead of leaving them in the lurch and exposing them to other communities who are willing to absorb them. This is the drain we must not let it happen.

Essentially, Zoroastrianism is all about freedom of thoughts ,so long as they are good ones combined with good words and good deeds.
May the Good religion spread to all our friends and relations. Amen!!!

    • I agree with Homi. The need of the hour is to welcome as many as we can and if a child has only one Parsi parent and that parent earnestly wants his/her child in our community, then that should be allowed. Better than losing a child and through that child, many more lost permanently.

    • Hello Sir Dr Homi Dhalla, Salaam & Pranaam. Intoxicated by rumours that Advanced Solar Parabolic Concentrators used for last rites, replacing Dukhma, have been installed under YOUR guidance, I have ventured to ask you the contact of Fabricators Team Member(s), if available. I m a multi engineer researcher self made innovator and wanna use cylindrical parabolic concentrator to heat up the water. Please do NOT discourage I m NOT a Parsi/Irani Zoroastrian but am a Gujarati. Thanks.
