In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration, or NorooZ, always begins on the first day of spring. Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts – the End and the Rebirth; or Good and Evil. A few weeks before the New Year, Iranians clean and rearrange their homes. They make new clothes, bake pastries and germinate seeds as sign of renewal. The ceremonial cloth is set up in each household. Troubadours, referred to as Haji Firuz, disguise themselves with makeup and wear brightly colored outfits of satin. These Haji Firuz, singing and dancing, parade as a carnival through the streets with tambourines, kettle drums, and trumpets to spread good cheer and the news of the coming new year.

As well as the significance of the number seven in Zoroastrianism, and how it is reflected in the table spread. Also takes into account the fact that the islamic celebration of Nouruz differs from the Zoroastrian celebration of Nouruz, as celebrated by the ancient ancestors of Zoroastrians, the religion and culture originating some 7500 years ago, from the age of King Cyrus the Great.
Zoroastrians New Year Norouz Occurs During The Spring Equinox
Nowruz or Norouz is celebrated at the precise moment that spring arrives.
The Heft-Sheen table is central to the Norooz celebration. Sheen is one of the letters of the alphabet. Items beginning with the letter sheen / Shin are traditionally put on the table. (Chanting the Ashem Vohu — prayers).
If you dont want to celebrate it the Islamic way, the heft Seen of garlic, vinegar, and so on. You should ask yourself do you really want to drink gross vinegar and eat garlic in the new year and other gross stuff? Or should it be celebrated the original Persian/Zoroastrian way?
Asha is the law of nature. And as long as you strive to always follow the path of Asha, to make sure that you are considering everything in the universe, you will make this world a better place for future generations to come.
Zoroastrians offer the mirror, Its essentially a sign of light. You look in mirror and you get some rosewater, which is very aromatic. You also get to see yourself and how you look at the beginning of the year.
In Zoroastrianism, Ahura Mazda is considered a God, and Ashu Zaratosht is viewed as the Zoroastrian prophet. Zoroastrians believe in one God, Ahura Mazda who allows us to think and choose whats right and wrong. The Prophet Zoroaster’s message was very universal, centered around the tenets of good thoughts, good words and good deeds.
Zoroastrianism teaches that people should do good to help their one God in his cosmic struggle with the power of evil.
There is a misconception amongst many that, you know, Zoroastrians are fire worshipers. Traditionally, its customary to pray in front of the fire or pray towards a light source. Light is very significant in the Zoroastrian religion, and its a sign of knowledge and wisdom.
The Zoroastrian faith began in ancient Persia, now Iran. Only as few as 115,000 Zoroastrians remain, most in India but also in Iran, Europe, and North America.
