We had a quick look at your web site. You seem to be showing Hindu ladies and tagging them as “Marathi Parsi” and so on. One example from your site : She is a Gujarati Parsi who says “ I identify with and appreciate the values of Hinduism but consider myself spiritual more than religious. Belonging to a closely knit family I give due importance to my parents …” We request you not to label Hindus or other religions as Parsis. This can confuse our Parsi youngsters seeking to marry, lead to inter-marriage, and destroy our community and religion.

I fully agree with Firoz that single Parsi youth require more international interactions urgently in order to have marriages within the community. This should be taken up on urgent basis as more & more Parsi youth are marrying outside our community. Besides, it is observed that Parsi youth (boys) who are transferred to US through their company are frantically looking out for ways for quick citizenship; hence they marry outside the commuity
resulting in our girls (who are willing to marry & relocate) being left over who finally marry outside the community.

I’m French and christian born. Not agreeing this belief, I’ve spent so many years to study religions from all over the world, and I had the chance to discover Zoroastrianism through an edition of the Avesta that my grand father offered me.
By reading the Gathas (a french translation of course, not perfect but still useful !), I fell that my own beliefs were very close to Zarthosht message. A very special feeling, when you discover that your philosophy, your way of life, your beliefs are condensed in these words…
Interested by history and languages from all over the world, I started to learn Farsi at the Zoroastrian Cultural Center in Paris (since 2 years now, and I will continue), and I enjoy this time to learn more and more on Zoroastrianism with conferences etc. Now, I feel very close to this belief…
Sadly, I also learnt that conversion is not allowed (except by some zoroastrian communities), just like marriage outside of the community.
Here is my question : why ? In ancient persia, conversions were not forbidden. Why now ? When Zarathushtra started to preach, it’s family, the king Vistaspa and all began to follow him… Why a difference today ?
When a man is sinking in a river, beging for help, why to ignore him ? Is it by fear ? Maybe by purity ?
I hope you will understand my point. I really love Zoroastrianism, its values, its message, and all my wish is to wear the Kushti one day in my life.

I do not understand why you have to wear the Kusti. You can always love Zoroastrianism, follow its message, principles and values. Nobody can stop you or anybody else in this world from the above. Also, you can go to Tajikisthan and convert if you so need, where neo zoroastrians are allowed. Why bulldoze yourself into the Parsi community and question someones time tested practices and rituals. Two years is a very short time for a thorough conviction and conversion. Let us see where you stand after 20 years of following Zoroasthustra’s message which does not allow force in anything.

Actually it’s was more a metaphorical way, when I said “to wear the Kusti”. Then, I’m not sure to understand well your point (my english is not so good) but I’m not searching to integrate Parsi community especially…. I thought this website was for every zoroastrian communities… not only parsi… isn’t it ?
However, you’re perfectly right : to follow the message, principles and values without forcing anything, just by loving Zoroastrianism should be sufficient! But how to follow the message when no Zartoshti wants to show you ?
My point is that, as non-zartoshti french man, it’s really hard to learn more on zoroastrianism because of this apparent “fear” : how can someone who is interested in Zoroastrianism can learn more, when Zoroasrian themselves don’t want to help him and put him aside because he isn’t born zartoshti ?
Of course two years are a very short time but it could be more helpful if some zartoshti were more “open” to interested non-zartoshti from outside…

No Zoroastrian scriptures say any where in Avesta that conversion is forbidden. Yes there are some organisations particularly in India who dot accept this True fact. However, that does not stop he/she to be converted into this Worlds first Pure Logical Philosophical Religion which is not based on Rituals or Prayers but is purely based on Nature and what is the meaning of Nature and the universe in a nut shell. I have friends who are actively into the business of conversion and are doing this only and only for the just case of Zoroastrianism. Zoroastrianism is not bound to, or obliged toward, any caste or creed system. It is infect a Global idea of teaching Man kind that how to perfect the Likelihood of Nature and harmonize oneself with nature to attain the Highest form. If you or any one is interested to know more on this please don’t hesitate to write to me. It is all free just so to let you know. Yes, it is a fact that Zoroastrian community has managed to somehow survive but in a very desalute state. This community has been unfortunate due to the long long history of negligence that it has developed wrong principles based on the geographical regions where it lived which in this case happens to be India. Culture plays a major role in the upbringing of the community no matter it be from any religion. As culture comes first then comes the religion. Unfortunately leaving Iran and settling in India is the major contributor toward the changes which we see in today, and that is the only True fact with no exceptions. And it will stay that way until the end unless the Community goes back to where it initially belonged i.e. to its roots IRAN. And one fine day that’s gonna happen for sure.
If your intention is to only follow Zoroastrians you need not integrate with the Parsi community.
All the prayers books and rituals are easily available on the net or in the form of books. Nobody can stop you from following them or practicing them.
However, please note that just as you can become a Hindu by conversion but you cannot become a member of the Brahim Hindu community or the kshatriya hindu community. Same is the case in the Islam where you can become a Muslim by conversion but cannot become an Arab Muslim or a Pashtun Muslim. There are thousands of such examples.
Also, you can go to Tajikisthan and convert if you so need, where neo zoroastrians are allowed. Even in America proselytizing is being carried by Mr.Ali Jaffrey who is a Zoroastrian convert. His group will definitely solve your queries and help you convert only if your only objectives are good and not mischievous.
However, I would suggest that you combine Christain values with the Zoroastrian principles and if you are so dedicated as you claim (within 2 years) to Zoroastrianism perhaps start a Zoroastrian French Sect in France with the help of World Zoroastrian Association and Mr. Ali Jaffrey. His group will definitely solve your queries and help you convert only if your only objectives are good and not mischievous.
I still doubt your actual intentions as you were born in a community which is very very proselytizing and will go to any extent to force others to follow your way of life.

1) Reading prayers books and rituals is totally useless if you don’t understand the meaning of these prayers, of these rituals. It’s like drinking an empty bottle… You just do the gesture and you think you’re drinking…….
2) Because I’m born in France in a Christian family SO I am like them, proselite, forcing anyone to do anything ? Ok so we should condamn all iranians because they live in an islamic country. Oh what ? there is zoroastrian iranians ? You’re kidding…. impossible, we should doubt of them : they are born in a islamic country. Your logical is wrong.
3) You make an amalgam between the one who are proselite and the one who are attracted by a faith. I’m not saying proselite mans are right !! We should never “prove” that our faith is better than another…. BUT we shouldn’t ignore someone who try to understand and discover this faith. You cross from an extrem way to another !
4) Please why are you talking about Parsis ? I’m talking about all zoroastrian communities !! Is this website dedicated to Parsis ? I think not. I perfectly know that it’s more difficult with Parsis because they integrate indian casts idea. BUT in Zoroastrianism (I mean the original message), there is no segregation on who is born zartushti or not !
Persia was a great empire mixing all cultures, from the scythes to the medes, indians, greeks, semites… Zoroastrianism is NOT linked to a special people, unlike the examples you said.

Well, in conclusion, I just note that Zarthosht original message has been transformed to exclude peoples and integrate a wrong idea of casts.

Most of our religious books have their meanings in English so you are totally wrong in your statements.
As far as the Iranian Muslims and the surrounding countries are concerned they were actually Zoroastrians so they should be welcomed back into the community if they wish.
Persian empire was weakened by proselytizing carried by Christain missionaries which lead to its fall to Arabs. It is this mixture which lead to its downfall.

Actually, the Indian Parsi community, one of the most talented community in India, have forgot that they were given shelter in India by the always accommodating Secular Hindu Indian community during their most critical crisis period and saved them from becoming irrelevant Worldwide. In return, most of the Parsi community have treated their Indian benefactors like their prosecutors and their communal attitude have restricted them from Intermingling with the Indian Hindu community freely, which would have resulted in a much more colourful progressive Indian fabric. Inspite of this fact, we the ordinary Indians specially the genuine Bengalis have so much respect for this talented community that we always wanted them to spread to Bengal and interact with our society to make the whole of Eastern India more progressive and more prosperous and we are still hoping against hope that someday, better sense will prevail over unnecessary Orthodoxy and as of now I will be more than glad to have Parsi friends and insist them to discuss with their Community Leaders to spread to West Bengal and any Progressive Parsi Individual/Organisation willing to interact with me or our society, please feel free to contact me at raytony2017@gmail.com
