The Bai Pirojbai Dadabhoy Maneckji Vatcha Agiary in Fort celebrates its 130th Anniversary on Sunday, April 18, Roz Ardibehesth, Mah Adar, YZ 1379. There will be a Jashan at 9.30 a.m.

151ST SALGREH OF THOOTHI AGIARY, WALKESHWAR.

On Roj Amardad, Mah Adar, Y.Z. 1379, Thursday 22, the Seth Sorabji Kharshedji Thoothi Agiary, situated at Walkeshwar, will per­form a Havan Geh Maachi in the morning and a Jashan ceremony at 10 a.m. will be per­formed by the Trustees of the Agiary. Dr. Darius H. Umrigar will also speak on ‘Sin is called the disease of the Soul’ at 6 p.m.

302ND YEARS SALGREH OF BANAJ LIMJI AGIARY, FORT.

On Roj Adar, Mah Adar, Y.Z. 1379, April 24 at 6.45 a.m., a Maachi will be held followed by a Jashan at 10 a.m. by the Trust and at 3.45 p.m. the ‘Ugrana­nu-Jashan’ will be held. At 7 p.m. a Jashan will also be performed.

On Roj Adar, Mah Adar, Y.Z. 1379, April 24 at 5 p.m. a Jashan will be performed at the above mentioned Daremeher and BPP Trustee Noshir H. Dadrawala will speak on aatash Marfate Ahura-ni­-Parasti.

ANNOUNCES ITS SUMMER 2010 PROGRAMMES AS FOLLOWS:

  1. The 5th Summer Swimming Camp at Bombay Y.M.C.A. from May 10 to June 3, 2010 (From 9.15 am to 10.15 am from Monday to Saturday). Age group from 6 years to 15 years Only.
    1. Zochild introduces SKATING ACTVITY and will be conducted at Cama Baug from Thursday May 6, 2010 to Saturday June 5, 2010 from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon from Monday to Saturday. Skates will be provided to the children. Age group from 6 years to 16 years Only.

3.Empowerment Programme with personality development through Games And Fun Learning for children of the age . group of 12 years to 16 years Only. This activity will be conducted in two batches – from 17th to 19th May 2010 and from 20th to 22nd May 2010.

Why Sauce For the Parsi Goose Is Not Sauce For the Parsi Gander?

Parsis have been in the National news again and as usual for all the wrong reasons.

The current dispute is essentially gender based:

  • Why can only Parsi men marry outside the community and continue to enjoy full religious rights – including their children, after their ‘navjote’ is performed?
  • Why is it that Parsi women who are married under the Special Marriages Act are grudgingly granted limited religious rights and their children not accepted within the fold?

What do the scriptures state in this matter?

What is the legal position in India with regard to inter-faith marriages among Parsis and the children of such marriages?
