Tirgan, the ancient Iranian rain festival, is celebrated in July (the Tir month of the Persian

calendar) and refers to the archangel Tir (arrow) or Tishtar (lightning bolt) who appeared in

the sky to generate thunder and lightning for much needed rain. (Wikepedia)
