Dadabhai Naoroji – Lecture on 7 Aug 10
Dear all:
On Saturday 7 August I will be giving a talk on “‘The European and Asiatic Races’: Dadabhai Naoroji’s Early Career as a Scholar and Reformer” at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai. If you are interested in attending, I’ve attached an invitation here. Likewise, if you know anyone who might be interested, please feel free to forward this invitation.
My Ph.D. dissertation is on Dadabhai Naoroji and, in this talk, I will speak on a largely unknown chapter of Naoroji’s life: how, by the 1860s, he had already become one of the world’s most recognized authorities on the Zoroastrian religion and the Parsis, and how he utilized his scholarly background to fight against the tides of racism and bigotry in Victorian-era Great Britain.
Details of the event are as follows:
Location: Nehru Centre’s Hall of Harmony, Ground Floor, Discovery of India Building, Dr. Annie Besant Road, Worli, Mumbai 400 018
Time: Saturday, 7 August. 5:30pm tea, 6:00-7:00pm lecture.
Best regards,
Dinyar Phiroze Patel
We who have migrated to other countries shall be deprived off Mr. Dinyar Patel’s talk and would be happy if the full talk or an important portion of the same is made availble on this site for benefits of all those who could not attend the talk.
