MNB Industrial Home for the Blind

I am proud to announce the participation of Muncherjee Nowrojee Banajee Industrial Home for the Blind(MNB) at The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on Sunday, 16th January,2011.
As the name suggests, this organisation provides vocational training and subsidized hostel facility to the visually challenged.
MNB is situated in Mumbai’s suburb Jogeshwari, opp Malcolm Baug on SV Road.
In 2006, It started a project of Self Employment Scheme for Small Businesses for the Visually Challenged and has since then served 600 visually challenged in setting up a small business and living a life of dignity and independence.
We are raising funds for this project by particpating in the Mumbai Marathon.The 6kms walk at the Dream Run category is the famous one amongst all NGOs to spread their word and walk with atleast a 100 participants to support their cause.We also have 3 visually challenged persons from the same Home who will be running the 21kms Half Marathon to raise funds for the same.Additionally we will have a few visually challenged persons participating in the Dream Run Category.

Kainaaz Mistry worked with the eminent Shiamak Davar for 12 years where she was a dancer and dance instructor. Since 2005, she headed his non profit organisation named Victory Arts Foundation where they focussed on teaching dance as a therapy to the mentally and physically challenged and the children from the slums.
After these 5 great yrs. she moved on from The Shiamak Group and now is a consultant with NGOs focussing on project allocation and fundraising.
Currently, she is consulting with The Muncherjee Nowrojee Banajee Industrial Home for the Blind(MNB) in Mumbai’s suburb Jogeshwari(W) .
Her focus is to enable them in raising funds for their project of ‘ Self Employment in small businesses for the visually challenged’.
This project provides them with a livelihood and boosts their self esteem as they are no longer dependent on others . They are provided with donations in kind and/ or monetary ways to set up stationary marts, small grocery stores, etc.
