New Newspaper – Parsi Times

The Parsi-Zoroastrians, who have a vibrant community press, have got their latest newspaper. On Saturday, free copies of the first issue of the weekly, Parsi Times, reached many homes.

Freyan Bhathena, editor of Parsi Times, said, “The community is getting stuck with issues that are more relevant to the older generation. Young people are tired of that conversation. As far as the community press is concerned, there is a void for young people. We need a fresh set of views.”

I agree with the comments of Mr. Dinshaw Mehta. This is not a community newspaper, although it is using community name.

  • Hi Freyan,
Your article on Rustom Baug in Parsi-Times dated 26th November 2011 was very informative, I was eagerly waiting for this topic, but, there is a small error which I’d like you to correct in the forthcoming issues of this fabulous weekly paper.
It is mentioned that Jerbai Wadia lost her son, Rustom Wadia in 1927.The fact is, Rustom Wadia who was born in 1876 passed away in 1919. The construction of Rustom Baug started in 1922 and by 1923 two buildings were ready. Jerbai Wadia was born in 1852 and passed away in 1926. Kindly make the necessary corrections or this might mislead youngsters who are interested in keeping up the Parsi heritage alive.
    Thanking you,
    With Warm Regards,
    Khushvir Bomi Engineer
