Jiji Irani Cricket Tournament

Dear Friends,

The 25th Jiji Irani Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament played annually between the Parsis / Zarathustis of Kolkata, Nagpur, Jamshedpur, Secunderabad/Hyderabad and Surat, is to be played at Secunderabad in the 2nd week of January 2012.

The Tournament is played on a round robin basis, with each centre hosting the Tournament by rotation. It was started in memory of the late Mr. Jiji Irani, the father of cricket in Vidarbha district (in Maharashtra), who was a legendary figure having played against Douglas Jardine and the MCC.

This Pentagular tournament has become a big event with the youth of all 5 cities participating and throws up a lovely environment for the youth to meet, intermingle & promote close camaraderie between the youngsters.

This tournament which celebrates its 25th year is being hosted by the Zoroastrian Club of Secunderabad and Hyderabad who will be publishing a souvenir containing interesting features of the sporting and other activities of our community.  Sponsors, who would like to sponsor whole events, are also invited.

On this occasion we appeal to you to kindly participate by publishing suitable advertisements in the souvenir. Please arrange for your cheque and advertisement material to be sent to us latest by 15th December 2011. As requested, please issue your cheque in favour of “Zoroastrian Club A/c Jiji Irani, Challenge Cup”
