Restored Khada Parsi to stay four feet under

Iconic 150-year-old cast-iron statue at Byculla stands below current ground level, and will remain there after its Rs 1.3-crore restoration as BMC wants no changes to original.

Restoration of the 150-year-old Khada Parsi statue, situated under the fork of the two Byculla bridges, finally began a few days ago, five years after the plan was first proposed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

  • 1.3 crore is not a small amount.
Why can”t the khada Parsi be lifted up to ground level instead of remaining 4 feet or meters what ever it is under ground level ?
Isn’t the neat amount sufficient to do the raising work ?
After all that is what such a huge amount is ment for.
