I thank you very much for your email of 11-05-2016. I am thankful to viewers for their comments and some of them are very educative and encouraging.
While compiling, I missed one of the greatest economist, banker our community Mr. Ardeshir Darabshah Shroff. I have revised the list incorporating the
same. One of the comment is from Ms. Devyani Prabhu inquiring about Indian stamp issued on Mr. Zubin Mehta.
Inspired by Ms. Prabhu’s comments, I could find out that Indian Postal authority has not issued stamp on Mr. Zubin Mehta but Maldiv and Austria has issued
Issued stamps on Mr. Zubin Mehta. Though government of India has honoured the great musician with prestigious Padma Shri and Padma Visbhushan Award.
Ironically Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Mr. Zubin Mehta had performed concert to commemorate 200 years of General Post Office at Mumbai.
From my study it is very surprising that Indian Postal Authority do not honour person when alive, as almost all stamps are issued posthumously.
I admit that I am collecting stamps as hobby and not professional philatelist and collecting such stamps takes years together and one have to have lot of
patience. Children should be encouraged to take stamp collection as hobby taking subject of their interest such as animal, birds, personalities etc.
In case if you consider worthwhile please upload on your net giving credit to all the viewers for their useful comments.
Thanks & Regards,
M. D. Damania
I have added A D Shroff’s stamp at the appropriate place. I also added a stamp of Air India’s first flight to India.

In case if you have any correct information please inform me even year of issue to find out such stamps.
Well done on the compilation of Parsi related stamps Mehernosh. I too am a collector of Parsi (and Bombay) stamp but thanks to you I find that I am missing a few (will keep a lookout for those to complete my collection). And I also have a huge collection of Parsi and Bombay postcards – a couple of articles in UK’s Postcard Monthly a few years back. As you may have guessed I have my Parsi roots in Bombay though I have spent my past 60 years or so in the UK. You may wish to know that a few years ago GB issued a set of musician stamps which included a Freddie Mercury stamp. II wonder if stamps of Rajiv and Sanjay Gandhi into this category! Keep up the good work – and keep hunting!
