Why is Navroz on 20th March this year?
Jamshedi Navroze is generally celebrated on 21st March.
Why then had everyone been wishing Navroze Mubarak to everyone a day before on 20th March 2020.
Was Navroze yesterday (i.e. 20th March) or today on 21st March 2020?
The answer is:
1. As per the Fasli or Fasal (seasonal calendar) the New Year is observed on 21st March every year.
21st March 2020 corresponds to Roj Hormuzd of Mah Fravardin of the Fasal calendar.
2. However, the spring equinox set in yesterday on Friday, March 20, 2020 at 09:19:37 am.
Akin to Chinese Zodiac, it will be year of the white metalic rat (New beginnings, fertility, rapid activity and prosperity) and the colours white and blue.
In the Northern Hemisphere, spring begins with the March equinox, which may occur either on March 19, 20, or 21.
The word equinox comes from the Latin words for “equal night”—aequus (equal) and nox (night).
On the equinox, the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world.
If yesterday on 20th March you were standing on the earth’s equator, the Sun would pass directly overhead on its way north.
Hence Navroze or the New Day of Spring set in yesterday on 20th but tomorrow will be the First day, Roj Hormuzd of the month of Fravardin of the seasonal calendar.

i am no authority on this matter but this my input…
2020 is a year Lear year. Hence we had an extra day in February. According to the Fasli calendar, that extra day ended on March 20 known as Roz-e-Wahizag. The next day, a “new day” we know as No Rouz. is March 21,… Roz Hormazd, Mah Farvardin. A new beginning, Spring!
