  • Yes of course. The Trustees should give them whatever financial help that they need!

    • The so called TRUSTEES. Please spare those MOBEDS & do justice for them, Will you ? Thanks 🙏

  • Of course, Mobeds and all employees of the religious institutions should be compensated! Raising such a question goes against the tenets of our faith!

  • Yes with double pay as they serves 24×7 so when ever such situations arrives it’s there birthright for compensation. They are godly servants and compensation is there godly rights.
Please don’t excuse by not paying them.

  • YES, Parsi’s should be ashamed of them self for keeping Mobeds the poor of poorest. In Bombay if you compare Mobed’s average income it will be less then a laborer working for BMC.
a Mobed’s salary should be equivalent to an Engineer or a Bank officer.

  • Yes they should be compensated .

  • Adale Mahyar Patel

It is high time we respect the work done by mobed sahebs

  • Mobeds are the back bone of our Religion. There sevices should not be ignored. If one doesn’t wish to compensate then hook up your computer & do it online by your self
It’s not how you pray or what methods one employes. It’s the sincerity & fervor will get one to the other side.

  • Vistasp Rustom Baria.

Mobed Sahebs are Messanger of God. Protector of our Religion & Customs. Community can only Prosper from their Blessings. They are the Guiding Stars & Saviours of our Community. Hence as a Parsee Zorastrian it is our Duty to see that our Mobed Sahebs & His Family Members Live Peaceful, Comfortable, Properous, LIFE. AAIDUN BAD AAIDUN TARAS BAD.

Many young and old mobeds have taken up priesthood as full time job as a service to the community at odd hours. The mobeds don’t follow the office clock timings, they are called at any time of the day and night to perform the religious ceremonies. Office goers will be taken care of as their salaries won’t be deducted. Hence the Trustees and the Panthaky or some well off personality of our parsi community should take initiative and compensate the mobeds in this difficult times.

  • Mobeds don’t earn a decent income and no young parsi girls will be ready to marry them and in that case our parsi community cannot grow in pure numbers. This is a sincere urge to the Panthaky’s & Trustees to take steps for the welfare of the Mobeds. Thanks in anticipation.

  • Mobedi profession falls in unorganised sector. Hence even in normal times the payment is not regular. Our industrialists and philanthropists should therefore come forward to support them financially or the panchayat should lend a helping hand

  • farida khambatta

people are going to pay their maids for the full month even when they dont come to work and we are raising the question of paying our Mobed Sahebs? shame on us.

  • KURUSH HOMI PATEL

Yes ofcourse Mobeds should be compensated.

  • Have a Heart
These poor men should be gracefully taken care of

Since priests are in the social service department, no ones stopping them from offering there duties towards the fire. Yes in some cases where priests are coming from far and need to travel by train, they need to be compensated but not those priests who are looking for reasons not to perform there duties. Jetlu Mehnat karse te hisab e mobed kamase.
This reply is in connection with the present situation.

  • Rustom L. Jasoomoney

Certainly. It should be made know which of the Agarie Trust does not compensate the Priests

  • Yezdi N. Unvalla

Keeping the present shutdown in mind, those Mobeds who have to travel to the Agiaries for performing their duties must be compensated.

While on the topic of Mobed compensation, it is sad that payments to Mobeds is at times a farce and this needs to be looked at seriously by the community.

  • Message from Rustomframna agiary trustee
    Nasha Jassawalla
“I just wanted to inform you, that Rustomframna Agiary will pay All its mobeds,Full time and Part time, ENTIRE salaries. The Part time mobeds will be marked present on the days they would normally be called.
I urge/request other Agiaries to do the same!??
Besides this,ANY full time mobed not getting sufficiently compensated by their respective Panthaky or Trustees, can approach us with proper references for help.

  • My two-bit opinion:
    1. It is shameful that such question is even up for discussion – I wonder if any other community or religion treats their clergy with such disdain! 😟

    2. How about this – all those who are getting their prayers ceremonies done at the agiaries should continue to pay for the same, and not take shelter under “ભણતર થયું કે નહીં તે ખબર નથી”. Most of us are receiving our own salaries during such times, right?

    3. Point #2 above may also address the hesitation of the Panthaky sahebs regarding payment to mobeds who are unable (NOT unwilling) to reach their place if duty. What if they also claim to “work from home”? 🤔

    અથ જમયાત યથ આફરીનામિ! 🙏🏻

  • Yes, definitely

  • Momeds are the life line of our community. If one doesn’t want to provide payment to these priests then do these ceremonies online as everything is available

  • By conducting this poll, we are actually insulting our mobeds. Our mobeds are the backbone of our religion who over the years have not been gven the credit due to them. They are never provided bonus like other company employees. Very few mobeds are paid by way of monthly salary & most of them are paid on pro rata basis. A sizeable number of them are aged with no other source of income & with a family to support.

  • Meheryar Bharucha

Every individual from any social category has right to protect self and family. Then why not Mobeds?

  • Perviz Rumwalla

Of course they should be. Firstly this question should not come up. It’s obvious …

  • Mobeds r the backbone of our community. I sincerely feel that all those Boiwallas who r doing their duty selflessly for 24 hours in such critical situation where everything is shut down & they hardly get anything to eat or drink or maybe nothing should be compensated.

  • Yes. Definately. They are doing yeoman service to the community and should be looked after with all the privileges in these trying times.

  • Yes. Of course. They should be compensated by the trustees

  • Pourushasp Karkaria

Yes definitely. They too are humans only and if all the other occupations are being paid, they too must receive full salary. Besides as per the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Mody all those who have been forced to stay indoors to protect every one against Covid-19 and not because movers don’t want to work. Besides on humanitarian grounds majority of the movers are having this as only livelihood and they have to feed their families. We Zoroastrians have done and always believed in Charity right from our forefathers till date, then why we must deprive these mobeds of their rights and punish innocent family members. In this troubled times we must support one another and render our services to God in an indirect manner like this since God has shown us that he too is bit disappointed on us and hence shut his doors to agiyari in an indirect way. He is trying to show mankind to live in harness with nature.

  • Why do we even need a poll for this .

Yes they definitely should be compensated

  • Yes they should be paid.old age Mobeds do give services when called so why not pay them!!!!Parsi panchayat just wants to fill their pockets not take care of our dying community Mobeds who do their jobs.some Mobeds live on what they earn by giving their services with laughing face and nobody respects them.TELL ME ARE THERE ANY YOUNG MOBEDS WHO WILL SAY PRAYERS WITHOUT BEING PAID!!!!NO!!!They will expect some sort of good will.why not!!!so why old aged pensioners Mobed be treated as dirt!!!!.

  • Humanity…..money is so neccesary to the fed dor the daily bread and butter….why shouldn’t they be compensated…..why do such questions arise I wonder…when we are Zoroastrian are considered to be highly charitable in our thought process and deeds towards others…..

  • I voted as YES – and this is evident. Why do we even have to go for a voting and seek votes when we all know that these are the people who keep up to your requirements and for your prayers. I would say the part time and full time-both, Mobeds should be compensated during this crisis. I heard of some mobeds who actually left their homes today morning to go to the agairy but were not allowed by public transport to commute. The intent is clear they want to work.

  • There should be no question about it. Ofcourse the keepers of our religion must be paid what is rightfully due to them

  • Mobeds Boiwallas and Food Servers who serve food at weddings and Navjotes should be treated with utmost Dignity and respect

  • Yes they must be compensated

  • Few years ago two innocent modeds was doing yeoman service to the familiies of the deceased by performing ceremonies at the Tower of Silence as some family member had married outside the Religion & some BPP member took objection to it & took them to court
What were these Illiterate BBP members thinking? What gave them God Given Right to do that?

Do these members know that Zoroastrianism teaches Equality Universality etc..

    They should ashamed of themselves.

I could write a volume bur I will leave it at that.

All I can say: SHAME ON YOU and you call yourselves Zoroastrians????????

  • Jehangir Chinoy

Are that daft to even discuss this?

  • Jehangir Ginwalla

We must compensate them. It’s the duty of all fellow Parsees
    JG

    • Parizad Todiwala

Yes definitely they must get the compensation…Mobeds are the lights of our religion and they work hard day n night..

  • Do they stop feeling hungry during the shutdown? It is difficult to support a family on a mobed’s salary let alone without one. They should be paid without exception.

  • ABSOLUTELY! Mobeds perform a sacred service to the Zarthoshti community. They have families to care for as well. A whole hearted Yes!

  • Yes they should be paid anyways their salary is too less what they are getting in this modern world and just imagine who will pray for us if we do not save/respect them

  • Ervad Ratansha Vakil

It is sad that we need a poll for this.

Yes absolutely support your local agiary and Atash Behram and all the mohbeds who serve there; more now than before. These are difficult times. Tan Darosti to all.

  • Mobeds should be highly respected and cared for. Compensation is a must and otherwise every parsi should contribute towards mobed fund in their own way.

  • Good Thoughts Good Words Good Deeds!
How many of us really know and practice this deep rooted meaning? Well “wake up” dear Zoroastrians.
To all Zoroastrians, put hand into your pocket/purse and into your bank balance if need be, and learn to give selflessly.
“We” (zarthusties) have been overly dependant since centuries on our noble trustees who have been giving us shelter (we pay very small meagre rent) living cost & education to 95% by survey. Some very many has much more than what should be allocated. Why & how is Principal of Trustees to find out.
So, thank our noble trustees for making us what we are today and STOP ” Vote. Poll etc ect . We all must Give (add before good in my opening line)
If I can do it silently, am sure you can too.

  • Yes. Mobeds are indispensable to the Zarthushtra Parsi community. We depend on them for the prayers of our dear, departed loved ones, for jasans so our homes may be blessed & sanctifiedy, for the Navjotes, weddings, and for other advanced ceremonies like Nirangdin, Fareshta and others. The Mobeds cannot be replaced by common-man. Theirs is one of the most revered, Important and holy jobs, serving our sacred Atash. I always think that they are so privileged to serve our Atash Padshah. And so it goes without saying that they should be paid with all due respect – and paid handsomely, at that too!
