The Last of the Parsees

NOTE: This is the instrumental theme music to the very popular soundtrack from the movie – “The Last of the Mohicans” and it is performed superbly (my personal favorite) by this Artist – MetalHawk and I attempt to play the cover of the cover :D. Please do check out his video here –    • The Last of the Mohicans TURNS METAL

Well, now coming to my part, this was a long awaited one, wasn’t sure what i should use in my background, after giving it a thorough thought, i came up with this theme – The Last of the Parsees, which to me is apt! I have played so many videos, featured different theme songs/music, mostly Iranian history but never did cover much on my history, i.e., the Parsis of India. So here i am trying to let the viewers know about these Fine Ladies & Gentlemen that once were the bedrock in building India. Without Parsis, i really don’t envision what India would have been. The incredible contribution given to the society, the cities and overall the great nation is immeasurable. It is extremely unfortunate that my community is dwindling and is almost getting forgotten.

The parsis portrayed in the movies are completely different than these magnanimous people (in video). The core qualities have been deteriorated to irreconcilable extent. We are now simply a minority of minorities. There are several major issues going on which we are turning a blind eye because “when the Faith is forgotten, the essence is lost”.

To end this, I would highlight few things, the info is mainly taken from Wikipedia. Also, important thing to note here is, we never mixed sugar in the milk bowl, it was in fact a gold ring. There are several eminent Parsis that i couldn’t fit in this length/duration of the video. This music is basically an extended one. I wanted to cover the Parsis that played crucial role in Akbar’s reign, and from other domains but i couldn’t. I am sorry for that!

Lastly, the theme Last of the Parsis is two-fold, 1) Visually – the great people (founders/pioneers) who passed away & 2) Allegorically – the remnants of the millennia old community that will continue to survive by practicing the tenets (7 fundamental principles of Z din) and return back to their motherland in the near future as prophesized by our Ustaad Saheb!
