Nadir and Rati Godrej: A Partnership in Purpose

In this month’s spotlight, we celebrate Nadir and Rati Godrej, a remarkable husband-and-wife team whose shared values and complementary strengths embody the WZCC mission: to create intellectual, economic, and social value for the Zarathushti and broader communities.

Nadir B. Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Industries and Godrej Agrovet, is a leader who has helped shape India’s industrial landscape with a steadfast commitment to sustainability. With degrees from Stanford and Harvard, he has spearheaded growth in animal feed, agri-inputs, and chemicals while championing the Group’s Good & Green strategy. Nadir’s intellectual curiosity extends beyond business—he is a passionate poet and linguist, often delivering speeches in verse.

Dr. Rati Godrej, born in Kenya and trained as a physician at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai, has brought a global public health perspective to India since 1991. Her work spans clinical practice, health ethics, rural healthcare innovation, and inclusive education. As a board member and advisor to several national and international public health organizations, she has been a quiet yet powerful force in improving health equity.

Together, Nadir and Rati have cultivated a life of purpose—integrating business, science, ethics, and compassion to uplift society. Where one brings industrial foresight, the other brings humanistic care.   It is in their partnership that we see a model of how two individuals, aligned in values but distinct in expertise, can together enable transformation neither could achieve alone.

As Nadir writes:

There’s much that we can do alone

But together Rati and Nadir can hone

Their diverse skills synergistically,

Working together holistically,

Alleviating grief and pain

And ensuring that the world will gain!

  • The Godrej group and other Parsi run business groups should seek permission of the Gujarat government to start industrial/business ventures at and around Udvada Station Town and employ some Parsis there, as a population support to nearby Udvada Iranshah Atashbehram
This petition aims to such and similar ideas. We cannot loose our Parsi heritage
