Sir Ratan TATA Scholarship – 2010
*The Sir Ratan Tata Trust, Mumbai, offers one-year scholarships at the Masters level for students who wish to study in the UK or the USA in the broad field of Development Studies, with special focus on *Development Economics, Public Health *or *Science-Technology -Society (STS) Studies*.
The scholarship aims to provide opportunities for young people to study/train in a set of academic disciplines with direct relevance to India’s future needs. Preference will be given to students with demonstrated academic excellence, choosing to study in academic programmes not presently available in India, such as Development Studies; Quantitative Development Economics; Science, Technology and Society; Public Health/Community Health etc.
Eligible candidates are those who comply with all the following criteria:
(a) Indian nationals, domiciled in India, not more than 30 years as on May 1, 2010, with an excellent academic track record and some evidence of extra-curricular achievement. Candidates with work experience in the selected field of study may be preferred.
(b) Confirmed admission in the UK or USA for any academic course of study in the broad area of Development Studies with special focus on Development Economics, Public Health or Science-Technology- Society Studies. The course should be offered full-time in the UK or USA and not online or by distance learning.
The scholarship covers contribution towards Tuition fees and stipulated living expenses.
Applicants can download the application form from the website of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust: http://www.srtt. org and send it to the office of the Higher Education Cell, CSCS, Bangalore by June 15, 2010.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed by July 1, 2010 and interviews conducted in Mumbai in mid-July. The staff employed are very rude to the people when they approach them or ask any query. We feel sorry for the purpose the trust has been formed and the needy students cannot fulfill their dreams.
