WZCC NYC Happy Hour: A Historic Triumph

WZCC New York’s First-Ever Manhattan Happy Hour: A Historic Triumph
WZCC’s New York chapter has just held its first ever happy hour in Manhattan! On Friday, November 7th, over 20 NY-based Zoroastrians gathered at Hold Fast Kitchen & Spirits— well, technically outside Hold Fast, because the inside was packed with people who clearly didn’t realize they were keeping the community from vital networking opportunities.
The event was so successful it attracted attendees from North Carolina, California, and even Singapore—each of whom, we are absolutely certain, flew in exclusively for this happy hour and not for any flimsy “work trip” excuse. True dedication.
An Evening of Insight, Laughter, and Aggressively Good Vibes
Few events have achieved such across-the-board excellence. The drinks were top-notch, the conversations were effortless, and I didn’t meet a single person who was uninteresting—an unprecedented statistical anomaly for any New York social event.
We had everyone there: leading lawyers, finance big-brains, creative professionals, tech whizzes, and medical miracle workers. Whether you came for networking, free moral support, or because someone promised you waffle fries, there was something for everyone.
Friendly debates broke out on the most important topics of our time—like whether 6:00 pm is technically early or late by New York standards, and which Zoroastrian auntie makes the best dhansak (no consensus reached, but the discourse was spirited). Of course, we also had serious discussion about new ideas, entrepreneurship, career strategy, and mentoring.
A Gathering So Good We’re Pretending It Was Planned That Way
The energy was so strong that we briefly considered declaring the sidewalk outside Hold Fast a new official WZCC annex. At minimum, it’s now a sacred historical site.
This was the kind of event that reminded all of us that the New York Zoroastrian community is far larger, more talented, and (frankly) more fun than we often remember.
What’s Next?
We’re aiming to make these happy hours a regular thing—on the 2nd or 3rd Friday of every month, depending on the alignment of the stars, the availability of venues that are not already packed, and our collective ability to remember to send calendar invites.
The next one will be on Friday, December 12th at 6:00 pm, location TBD. If you missed the first one, come to the next. If you came to the first one, bring a friend. If you flew in from Singapore purely for networking purposes… please keep doing that. It really helps our attendance numbers.
