Parsee General Hospital
We, the Hospital Executive Committee and the Authorities. have pleasure in presenting to you, the Community, a survey of the sixty years of the Hospital. On an occasion such as this. sve feel the stock taking urge. The humble beginnings of the Hospital in 1912, with the concomitants of an age hardly any of us are familiar with. and its growth to the eminent position it occupies today, make all of us glow with pride. The ideal of the hospitd then, and its fulfilment today is a great tribute to the vision and determination, selfless work and devotion to an ideals of the founders and the band of heroic workers who have passed through its portals. An ideal. that an institution for the suffering, disabled, broken in body should be created and run for the suffering poor of the community has been brought to fruition.
There has always been a dedication to two ideas; one that the Community should have a shelter where the sick and ailing could run to and the other that if we didn’t do it ourselves we obviously couldn’t expect to have it done for us. This Souvenir Volume gives only a glimpse of the beginnings and the vicissitudes then faced in the single-minded striving towards this ideal. A fair part of this volume is devoted to the present facilities and activities that hum day in and day out in this now great Institution.
The future of this great Institution (and how it is to be) will to large extent be conditioned by the awareness of those connected with this hospital—the Trustees of the Parsi Panchayat, the Executive Committee of the hospital and its general board, the medical individuals, both honorary and otherwise, the medical and administrative staff, and last but not the least the great Parsee Community that year after year nobly supports the efforts of all of us with badly needed funds to enable us to carry on to mitigate suffering of members of our community.
It has been a pride for us to associate with this Institution: to look upon the past sixty years with satisfaction to present a brief of dl this through this souvenir volume to you.
We all face the uncertain, difficult future with confidence.

Dr. H. S. Mehta, Mr. P. S. Jhabvala – Joint Hon. Secretaries
