Did Zoroastrianism influence Christianity?
We had a comment on The Persian background of Iran that needs some comment. Our reader says,
And incidentally, there’s much more of Iran in the bible. The original “apple” was actually a pomegranate — which comes from Iran, for example. Mithraism, a Persian religion, was the basis for the celebtration of Christmass. The whole concept of hell and heaven and angles was introduced from Zoroastrianism into Judaism and then Christianity.

Mithraism is one of the oldest religions, and has influenced many other religions worldwide throughout history. Mithras is known as the son of god; Mithraism, originally a Persian religion, has so many similarities with other religions. Mithras is a Masaya who appears at judgment day, he appears in many other religions as a Messiah, but with a different name.
For example, in Christianity he is known as Jesus, in Islam as Mahdi, in Hinduism as Krishna, in Judaism, and so on….
Mazdaism became firmly rooted and every religion has borrowed from Zoroastrianism faith. Similarities among some of the most well known religions, contained elements which were first seen in Mithraism:
Virgin birth
Born to a human (virgin mother and divine father)
Twelve followers (the 12 Disciples)
Killing and resurrection
Performed Miracles
Birthdates on December 25
Morality
Mankind’s savoir
Known as the Light of the world
Last supper with his 12 disciples
baptism (In Judaism and Islam washing yourself before you pray)
connecting the link between god and man
celibacy
Dead for 3 days
Resurrection
Sunday holiday
Mithraism was a religion that was outlawed; these Mithraicism temples were abolished and replaced by Churches, Synagogue and Masques. Mithraism has now become a religion that is practice by the members of underground secret societies.
Mithras is a Persian god in Zoroastrianism [Avestan Mithra] and Persian mythology, the god of light, truth, and goodness.
Ahura-Mazda known as the ‘lord of truth and good’ – and Mithras is understood as Ahura’s agent and mediator. Because of Mithra’s association with the sun, the force of life- the god that brings forth light, heat, life, and nature. Indeed, it is said that even though Ahura created Mithras as he created all else, he nevertheless made him as great as himself. As the maintainer of light and the sun, Mitra is understood as the enemy of all that is dark.
He is given the position of warrior against the darkness, leading the forces of light against the forces of dark in the name of Ahura as seen in the hymns of the Avesta.
Mithras represented a system of ethics in which brotherhood was encouraged in order to unify against the forces of evil. The worshipers of Mithras held strong beliefs in a celestial heaven and an infernal hell.
Mithras mission is to save mankind from evil and demons on judgment day. The benevolent powers Mithras would sympathize with human suffering and grant them the final justice of immortality and eternal salvation in the world to come. Believers looked forward to a final Day of Judgment in which the dead would resurrect, and to a final conflict that would destroy the existing order of all things to bring about the triumph of light over darkness.
According to Persian mythology, Mithras was born of a virgin given the title ‘Mother of God’. The god remained celibate throughout his life, and valued self-control, renunciation and resistance to sensuality among his worshipers.
Purification through a ritualistic baptism was required of the faithful, who also took part in a ceremony in which they drank wine and ate bread to symbolize the body and blood of the god.
The Symbolism in Mithraism:
The Swastikas represents good fortune, luck and well being.
The swastika (Sanskrit svastika, “all is well”) is a cross with four arms of equal length, with the ends of each arm bent at a right angle. Sometimes dots are added between each arm.
The swastika is an ancient symbol found worldwide, but it is especially common in among Parse Zoroastrian Persians and India/ Hindus and Buddhists, It can be seen in the art of the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Israel, Celts, Native Americans and some other countries.
The Aryan word, meaning male and female warriors, originates by the names of kings in Old Persian Mihr (meaning: love and friendship) both derived from the Iranian/Persian root. And it has nothing to do being fascist, spreading hate, and/or discrimination against others.
Attention important note;
ORGY in this video does NOT mean group Monogamy SEX, the definition in English & in my ancient history video means:
Worship of ancient gods: in ancient Greece and Rome, a secret rite in which the gods of pleasure, especially Mithras, Ahura, Statue, Saturn, Dionysus or Bacchus, were worshiped with much dancing, drinking alcohol, and singing.
