IRAN HERITAGE FOUNDATION CURATOR FOR PERSIAN MANUSCRIPTS AT BRITISH LIBRARY

Salary: £31,387 p.a.
Fixed Term Contract for 18 months
British Library are seeking to appoint a Curator to work with the British Library’s collections of Persian manuscripts. Building on work already completed during the previous two years, your main duties will be creating electronic records for both catalogued and uncatalogued material, and to further knowledge of the collections, working closely with the Persian curators, the Iran Heritage Foundation and the UK Higher Education Sector. This post offers a unique opportunity to become familiar with one of the largest and best–known collections in the world and to contribute to its future development and exploitation.
Using your degree level knowledge of Persian, your research and palaeographical skills, you’ll also demonstrate an understanding of Persianate history and culture, exemplified by previous academic study or research in this subject area. Demonstrable IT skills, attention to detail and experience of managing relationships with a varied range of stakeholders in a project based environment will also be crucial to your success in this role.
