WZCongress 2022 – Design A Logo Contest

Overview

In 2018 Zoroastrian Association of Greater New York (ZAGNY), a member association of the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America (FEZANA)  was selected to host the 12th World Zoroastrian Congress 2022 (WZC2022).

The organizing team of the WZC2022 would like to announce a competition to design a logo for the Congress.

The new logo will become the official logo of WZC2022 and will be used on the Congress website, social media sites, business cards, letterhead, posters, souvenir trinkets and gifts, or anywhere else WZC2022 chooses.  This document describes the official requirements and rules of the competition.

By entering, participants agree to be bound by these contest rules.  Violating any rule or not following instructions may eliminate participants’ eligibility.  WZC2022 and ZAGNY has the right to disqualify any entrant at any time at its sole discretion.

Eligibility

The contest is open to citizens of any country. The contest is not open to WZC2022, ZAGNY or FEZANA office bearers, Members of the judging panel and their immediate family members.

Contestants are permitted to work in groups. The maximum size of the group will not be more than 3 persons.  However, only one (1) prize will be awarded regardless of group size.

Submission Guidelines and How to Enter

The contest is open from 12:01 a.m. August 1, 2019 US Eastern Standard Time and closes at 11:59 p.m. November 15, 2019 US Eastern Standard Time.

Late submissions will not be considered.

The winner(s) will be selected and announced at the unveiling of the logo at an event yet to be determined.

All entries must be submitted electronically to WZC2022 by uploading the files using the form at the end of this page.

One or more submissions per person is acceptable.  Each submission must be sent as a separate entry submission.

There is no fee to enter the contest.

 Logo Design Guidelines and Parameters

The purpose of this contest is to design the official logo of WZC2022.

The logo should have a Zoroastrian theme and reflect WZC2022’s Mission, Vision, Theme and Goals and Objectives, as stated below. It may reflect any aspect of Zoroastrian religion, culture, architecture, iconography, social custom, tradition, philosophy, etc. that the artist chooses.  It should be professional in appearance and appropriate for a World Congress.  It should have universal appeal, but be of relevance – stylistically and otherwise – to the Zoroastrian religion and its followers worldwide. The logo could also allude to the host city New York in some way or form.

Participants are encouraged to view the promotional video on our website https://wzc2022.com to get a further understanding of what the Congress aims to be.

Notwithstanding these requirements, young artists who may not have the technological tools to create professional looking logos are encouraged to participate. If the artist’s concept and design win the competition, WZC2022 will assist in transforming the design into a functional logo. As such, artists of all ages are encouraged to participate in the competition.

 WZC2022 VISION

To nurture a caring, compassionate, harmonious, altruistic, observant and prosperous community, with respect for diversity in belief and practice and to move together towards a glorious and united future for our worldwide community.

 MISSION

To create an atmosphere of opportunity at the WZC 2022 for the worldwide Zarathushti brethren to come together and work together in Hamazori for the mutual benefit of their communities while celebrating their diversity.

THEME: Bridging the Global Zarathushti Existence.

A theme that reflects the aspirations and challenges of the larger Zarathushti community on the cusp of emerging from the first quarter of the twenty-first century.

Our goal is to ensure that we bridge Zarathushtis from across the world, but also bridge the age, gender, cultural and spiritual differences. Our community today is truly global, spread across the world and represents a diaspora that brings with it unique challenges.  The World Zoroastrian Congress will give us the opportunity to strengthen connections and build bridges while respecting our diversity.

Our Zarathushti Existence is not static, but ever changing.  As we stand here in 2019 and look forward to 2022, three years from now, we should expect continued evolution of our state — demographics, geographies, social media — all of these will influence our world community and continue to pose the question — Who Are We?  What Do We Represent?  What Will We Be?

We hope that our agenda and program content will raise these questions and leave the attendees with a renewed sense of pride and purpose that we will endure.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

Our goal for the 2022 World Zoroastrian Congress is a truly World Congress with active World Participation in keeping with our theme of Bridging the Global Zarathushti Existence.  To this end, we will strive to involve Zoroastrian Associations and ‘Emerging Zoroastrian’ Groups across the world well in advance of the Congress to ensure and encourage their engagement and participation.

We would welcome creative input, content leadership and participation to make the program representative of our far-flung community and create the basis for an integrated program that will appeal to all attendees from the youth to young parents to seniors, and all in between.

A final and key objective would be to use our program, technology and social media to generate increased interest and awareness of the Zarathushti religion, faith and global existence.

Submission Formats

Entries must be submitted as JPEG, PNG, PDF, TIFF, AI, CDR or EPS files.  Entries can be in color or black and white.  No color gradients and half-tones within the artwork.  The logo must be easy to use, handle, resize, and manipulate for all reproduction purposes.  It should be visually appealing on both small (as small as 2 cm x 2 cm) and large scales.

Intellectual Property

Entrants affirm their submissions are their own original work, have not been copied from others or from previous designs, including their own, and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity.

Submissions become the sole property of WZC2022 and may be used for any WZC2022 purposes, including, but not limited to, display on websites, business cards, letterhead, posters, and other materials.

WZC2022 shall have the right to adapt, edit, modify, or otherwise use the winning submission in part or in its entirety in whatever manner it deems appropriate.

WZC2022 reserves the right to choose not to use the winning entry as described in these contest guidelines.

WZC2022 reserves the right to use any other entry for promotional or business purposes in the future.

Determination of Winner and Prize

The winning entry will be selected by a panel of design, marketing and public relations professionals.  Their decision will be final, and no further correspondence shall be entered into.

Entries will be judged on their visual appeal, adherence to the concept prompting the contest, quality of design, and ease of reproduction for the purposes stated above.

The prize for the winning entry is US$ 501.  This prize remains the same regardless of the size of the team submitting the winning entry.

The winner will be notified via email and announced on WZC2022 website, and at the unveiling at an event yet to be determined and possibly through other media.
