Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla donates Rs. 10 crores to Global Council of Zoroastrians Trust (GCZT)

We are delighted to announce the first major contribution by Dr. Cyrus Poonawala, a sum of Rs. 10 crores towards the corpus of Global Council of Zoroastrians Trust (GCZT). The Trustees are delighted at the generosity of Dr. Cyrus Poonawalla that will enable GCZT to start enabling its vision. “We have several plans in the making like Free Insurance for the needy and provide much needed succour to Mobeds in India.”
The Trust was registered in Mumbai with a vision of nurturing a caring, compassionate and harmonious Parsi, Irani and Iranian Zoroastrian Community worldwide, though the initial focus will be on India. Our mission is to offer a platform to the Zoroastrian Community to come together and work together for the wellbeing and prosperity of the Parsi, Irani and Iranian Zoroastrian Community worldwide. The structure of GCZT is bicameral comprising of Board of Trustees and Global Working Group (GWG) Regional Representatives from 10 regions worldwide so that passionate hearts and hands can accomplish the shared vision.
The first Chairman of the Trust was Dr. Burjorji Antia who worked tirelessly to get the Trust registered with the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai. The current Chairman is Neville Shroff of Hongkong, along with a band of committed 3 Settlors, Dr. Burjorji Antia, Mr. Dinshaw Tamboly and Mr. Kersy Bhesania and 9 Trustees, Dr. Burjorji Antia, Mr. Sam Balsara, Mr. Yazdi Tantra, Mrs. Meher Bhesania, Mr. Neville Shroff, Mr. Rohinton Rivetna, Mr. Viraf Mehta, Mr. Kayomarz Sidhwa and Mr. Malcolm Deboo. In addition, the Trust has the benefit of several advisors like Dr. Mrs. Rati Godrej, Mr. Homi Katgara, Mr. Noshir Dadrawala, Mr. Dorab Mistry, Mr. Adi Jehangir, Mr. Homiyar Madan and Mr. Arzan Wadia.
