I am Dr Ashwin Garg, presently working as Associate professor, Radiology, at HIMSR, New Delhi. I am writing to you as an alumnus of Grant Medical College (GMC) and Sir J J Hospital, Mumbai. My colleague, Dr. Sharad Ghatge ( presently working as Professor, Radiology in Grant medical College), and I (both GMC DMRD alumni) are currently documenting the history of the Department of Radiology at Grant Medical College in preparation for our 150-year departmental celebration at the end of this year.

In our archival research, we discovered that Dr. B. E. Ghasvala (who was also a Fellow of the University of Bombay Senate in 1904) served as a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at GMC, alongside T. D. Collis. He used to report Xray in early 1900. Given the intersection of chemistry and early radiologic science (Medical Electricity) during that era, he is a figure of great interest to our departmental history.

If you have any biographical details, anecdotes, or a photograph of him , we would be deeply honoured to include them in our commemorative publication and the 150th-anniversary exhibition. Preserving the legacy of the pioneers who built our department is a priority for us.
