3 BPP Trustees clarify their stand regarding the issue of converting Leave & License to Tenancy
We—Anahita Desai, Adil Malia, and Hoshang Jal—believe we owe our community a clear and candid explanation of our position on the contentious issue of converting Leave & License Agreements into Tenancies. Our purpose is clear: to protect the larger interests of our dear community and help every member form an informed opinion. We speak with sincerity and conviction, presenting our understanding truthfully and to the best of our knowledge and belief. Our concerns arise from a deep sense of responsibility towards the community we serve and the generations who will inherit the consequences of decisions made today. Do share the interview with fellow community members. These issues deserve our collective attention and thoughtful consideration…afterall, it is about all of us collectively coming together to protect our community baugs, reserving it for Parsis only and preserving our unique heritage.

These three Trustees are courageous & stand in their integrity. Obviously, they have done their homework with diligence. Full disclosure: I have not examined the other side of the argument; however, as legal & accounting professional, the basis of the opinions shared is sound.
There is one absolute truth in all of this: personal benefit, votes, power, and control should have no place in a Trustee’s mind – and especially not for us. We are elected to fiduciary positions for the sole purpose of serving our community with integrity. This is a privilege. No Parsi should have to be reminded that when we leave this plane, we take nothing but our thoughts, words & deeds … and then answer for them. It is this core principle of our faith that should be at heart of every decision we make.
May Asha prevail.
Absolutely.
I fully support the spirit of this message. This is not simply about individual agreements or issues of today—it is about the future of our community and what we choose to preserve for the generations that follow.
Our baugs, properties and institutions are part of the heritage that earlier generations worked hard to create and safeguard. Any decision that could fundamentally change the nature or future use of these community assets therefore deserves careful consideration, open discussion and, above all, a clear understanding of the long-term consequences.
I appreciate Anahita, Adil and Hoshang for taking the time to explain their position and for encouraging community members to listen, understand the issues and form their own informed views.
Whatever our individual opinions may be, the larger question is one we should all take seriously: what kind of community legacy are we leaving for the next generation?
We may disagree on the approach, but our common objective should remain the preservation, strength and continuity of our Parsi community and its heritage. This is indeed something that concerns all of us.
To all voters who cast their votes, please listen and carefully understand who to choose to do the correct thing in future elections. Consider and appreciate candidates /panels that considered our collective preservation and well being before their own needs. May AHURA MAZDA always shower his best on our community!!!!!
