Dear BIPS members and supporters,

We are pleased to invite you to the launch of ‘Nomadic Weavings: From Sheep to Carpets in Rural Iran‘, an online exhibition exploring the traditional hand-woven goods of rural Iran and the changing lives of the nomadic communities that created them.

Wednesday 21 October | 4.30pm – 5.30pm
Elvet Hill House, Room 009

The launch will include an introduction by Professor Susan Wright and an opportunity to view a selection of Iranian bags and carpets from her research area, now donated to the Oriental Museum.

The exhibition can be viewed online here

The research on which this exhibition is based was supported by a BIPS Research Grant.

We hope you will be able to join Professor Susan Wright for this special occasion.

Best wishes,

  • Very Interesting exhibition – sad that the life of these Nomadic people changed or disappear after the Islamic revolution!!! I want to know if these people believed or practiced a certain Religion? Like Zorastrian religion- as that was the Religion of All Iran during the Persian Empire?

I would like to Thank Zorastrians.net to present us with this very Facinating story / History of Iran!! 🙏🙏💕💕
