The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) , a non-ministerial department responsible for strengthening business competitive practices, has appointed two Indian-origin persons to senior positions in the body. They are Cyrus Khushru Mehta, and Dharmash Mistry, among the four new non-executive Directors named by the British government’s Department for Business and Trade last month, bringing extensive experience in finance and law to the regulatory body,- reports PTI.
Cyrus Mehta, a London-based solicitor and former Partner and head of the European Union and competition team at London law firm CMS, (Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang), currently on the Panel-board of CMA, is appointed as a Non-Executive Director of CMA.
Cyrus brings to CMA 35 years of experience in competition law, trade, and state regulations. Non-executive directors are crucial in governing the CMA, setting the organization’s direction, monitoring its performance, and making key decisions. These new appointments come at a time when the CMA’s role in ensuring healthy competition in the UK economy is increasingly important.
Cyrus Mehta and Dharmash Mistry are joined by broadcasting personality Dame Patricia Hodgson and entrepreneurs Justin Basini and Frank Dangrard as the new appointees on the CMA board.

Cyrus Mehta is married to Silvia and has a daughter Charlotte. Cyrus is one of the three children of late Dr. Khushru and Roshan Mehta who regularly frequented our Zoroastrian House. More importantly, Dr. Khushru Mehta OBE meritoriously served the ZTFE as a Trustee for several years. He passed away on 18th November 2014.
