The family has requested The WZO Trusts to assist in the process of raising funds.

Rs.   10,00,000:  from WZO Trust Funds Emergency Medical Funds

Rs.     6,90,000:  from few other Trusts

DONATION DRIVE TO HELP FARROKH HOSHANG BATLIWALLA

 

 Dear Donors and Well Wishers,

Farrokh Batliwalla, has been urgently registered for transplantation of both lungs under Dr. Unmil Shah at Sir H.N. Reliance Hospital. Dr. Zarir Udwadia has given a diagnosis of his condition as chronic PPFE (Pleuroparenchymal fibroelastosis) of the lungs and has advised for urgent lung transplantation.

 

A Medical Appeal for Mr. Farrokh Batliwalla (52 years) who is in urgent need of Lung Transplant Pathway has been circulating over the last few days.

 

Farrokh resides at Jer Baug, Mumbai along with his wife Tenaz (51) and two sons (23 & 21) both students. Farrokh was a seafarer till June 2025. Due to his failing health conditions, he was unable to continue his sailing duties. Currently he is not employed. Wife Tenaz, a teacher, is the sole breadwinner for the family at present.

 

H. N. Reliance Hospital has given an estimated cost of Rs.62,37,350/- for only the lung-transplant. Additionally, concerned doctors have conveyed that the family will need to collect an additional amount of approximately Rs.1,50,00,000 (Rs.1.5 crores) for the entire lung transplant pathway (Rs.2,12,37,350/-).

This is because, the estimate given by the hospital does not include:

 

–        Pre-transplant regular follow up visits with the transplant team doctors to keep Farrokh active on the transplant list.

 

–        Daily cardio-pulmonary physiotherapy rehab sessions for pre-transplant-related stabilisation.

 

–        Emergency hospitalization required for providing critical care during the pre-transplantation period.

 

–        Logistical arrangements for bringing the cadaveric donor organ to Mumbai by commercial / chartered flights, from anywhere in India.

 

–        Prolonged post-transplant ICU stay, use of ECMO and other procedures used during post-transplant hospitalisation to stabilize his condition.

 

–        Post-transplant follow-up visits with the transplant team doctors to monitor Farrokh’s medical condition.

 

–        Post-transplant regular testing, immunosuppressive medications, isolation control protocols and associated cardio-pulmonary physiotherapy rehab sessions.

 

–        Emergency hospitalisations required for providing critical care during the post-transplantation period.

 

Upon the family’s request The WZO Trust Funds have agreed to conduct a donation drive from donors worldwide to collect required medical funds for Farrokh’s lung transplant pathway.

 

The family has so far from their own resources contributed Rs 65,00,000/-, WZO Trust Funds have contributed Rs 10,00,000/- from their Emergency Medical Fund. Other trusts have contributed Rs.6,90,000 and miscellaneous donors have pooled in with Rs 24,00,000/-.

 

There is still a substantial shortfall (Rs.1,06,47,350) to be bridged for which donors are requested to send their donations to:
