Revering our Founding Fathers KR Cama and the Cama Family

The Institution of Freemasonry in Mumbai, established for more than two centuries now, has been founded on the solid bedrock laid by our Founding Fathers. K R Cama was a very prominent Freemason and the first Indian to be appointed Provincial Grand Master as earlier all were Britishers. Incidentally Parsis were socially at the fore then.
The District Grand Lodge of India ( Scottish Constitution ) has taken the initiative to conduct an annual Memorial Event recognising the immense contribution of leading individuals and families that have built what we are today.
Schedule of the Event is as under:
Saturday, August 10th, 2024
Time: 5.45 pm for 6 pm
Venue: Sandhurst Temple, Freemasons’ Hall, Opp Sterling Cinema ( parking is usually not an issue )
Program:
6 pm to 7 pm
– Tour of the Sandhurst Temple and Introduction to Freemasonry
7 pm to 8.30 pm
– Invocation
– Welcome address by Mr Kersi Limathwalla
– Lecture by Ms Susan Snell
– Responses by Dignitaries
– Vote of Thanks
8.30 pm Onwards
– Fellowship, Contributory Cocktails and Dinner ( Rs 1200/- per person )

About the Speaker – Ms Susan Snell – BA DA MAA RMARA:
Susan is a professional archivist and records manager and has been associated with the Museum of Freemasonry, under the United Grand Lodge of England since 2005. She has keen interest in helping researcher establish connections between their families and Freemasonry. Of special interest to her is the rich history of the Parsi ( Zoroastrian ) families in both India and England and their connections to Freemasonry. She has published several articles on various topics in peer reviewed journals.
About Mr Kersi Limathwalla:
Kersi is a Chartered Accountant and well established Arbitrator, who is in his 50th year of Freemasonry. He is associated with several leading trusts and organisations. With immense depth of knowledge he leads the District Grand Lodge of India ( Scottish Constitution ) as its District Grand Master.
About Freemasonry:
Freemasonry is the world’s oldest Fraternity with a continuous recorded history of more than 300 years and anecdotal history of more than 600 years. Taking origins from the stonemasons, and tracing its roots to Biblical times, its aims being the practice of every moral and social virtue. In Mumbai the earliest Freemason Lodges have been meeting for more than 250 years and Freemasons’ Hall ( opp Sterling Cinema, the venue for this lecture meeting ) is a purpose built Grade II heritage building of 127 years vintage.
Temple Tour
Access to the premises is generally restricted to Freemasons, but
this Memorial Event will provide a not-so-often opportunity to visit the Temple and for benefit of non Masons, a guided tour of the Temple and its significance.
