Farewell our friend- Cyrus J. Siganporia

In the passing away of Cyrus Jal Siganporia, on Monday, June 30, 2025, we the Zarthusti’s of India and mainly Mumbai have lost a great personality.
Cyrus was a staunch follower of our religion and after his retirement from Larsen & Toubro, dedicated his life and time towards betterment of our Agiaries’, Atash Behram’s and Doongarwadi (Tower of Silence).
His social service life began with Nowroze Baug, where he lived since his childhood. He joined the Nowroze Baug Play Center as a child, and later took on various roles in the managing committee. His major stint till the time of his untimely accident was joint camping-in-charge. He used to be an active participant conducting ‘Pyramids’ with children during the annual show of Nowroze Baug.
Cyrus, served the leaders committee of Nowroze Baug Play Centre for almost over 40 years. He was a good football player and participated in volleyball tournaments. His dedication to youth in his younger days was extraordinary. He used to take young group of boys and girls on camps and tours. He was recently involved with organizing All Parsis Sports.
He always used to put his hand up for any call of duty Nowroze Baug wanted volunteers for.
After his retirement he was part of volunteers who participated initially cleaning and fixing, Zoroastrian places of worship. Later with guidance from our learned dasturjis the volunteers including Cyrus started cleaning our sacred Dokhmas in Mumbai and later all over India. He even met with an accident, when he had a fall from a ladder while maintaining a place of worship. But that did not ditter him. On recovering from that fall he was back in action, doing what he loved the most.
His volunteerism was unparalleled. Many have received his services and in one way or the other our community is indebted to his service.
Our community has lost one more warrior of social service. His untimely death was a cause of an accident, from which he never recovered.
We have lost him in person, but his legacy still lives on. He will always and forever live in our hearts.
Our condolences goes out to his wife Zarin, son Parvez and family.
We pray, may his eternal soul progress further and attain Goretheman Behest.
You rest my friend, till we meet again, someday, sometime in eternal world.
Aspi P. Ustad
