Ø  India’s Standing in the event: Finished 1st in the medal tally with 50 Gold, 26 Silver, and 23 Bronze medals (99 total)

 

Ø  Yeshaya’s Milestone: Second international medal; The first medal was  a Silver at the 2021 ISSF Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru (Junior Women Double Trap Grand Prix), making her the first junior women’s shotgun shooter from Gujarat to achieve such a feat.

A  little brief about her..

Yeshaya Hafiz Contractor began her shooting journey at the age of 13 at the Trap Shooting Range, Savli Taluka Rifle Association, Savli (Gujarat).

Her first competitive appearance was at the 38th Gujarat State Trap Shooting Competition, 2019, where she made an impressive debut by winning six medals— 1 Gold, 2 Silver, and 3 Bronze across Trap and Double Trap in both Junior, Senior, and Team events. The same year, she went on to secure Gold at the 7th West Zone Shooting Championship in Shotgun Events, Vadodara, Gujarat.

Since then, Yeshaya has consistently excelled in the sport, winning medals at the Junior and Senior levels in the 39th, 40th, 41st, 42nd, and 43rd Gujarat State Shotgun Shooting Championships.

She holds the distinction of being a five-time Renowned Shot, having competed in National Shooting Championship Competitions in shotgun events over the last five years.

In recognition of her achievements, the Collector of Dahod honored her with a Certificate of Honour on 15th August 2022, during the 75th Independence Day Celebrations – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. This was in appreciation of her representation of India at the Junior World Championships, Lima, Peru (2021), organized by the ISSF. At this event, she created history by becoming the first-ever junior women shotgun shooter from Gujarat to represent India internationally, securing a Silver Medal in the Junior Women Double Trap Grand Prix 2021.
