c) Students who have appeared in HSC (Science) examinations held in the year 2008 and have secured admission (only on merits) in the First Year of any Engineering College in India (Degree Course), but are not eligible for JIMI N. KATHAWALLA MEMORIAL AWARDS.

d) Students who have appeared for examinations held in India in February / March / April 2008 for any other Bachelors Degree (except LL.B) and have obtained 65% and above.

e) Students who have appeared for L.L.B Degree examinations held in India in April 2008 and have obtained 60% and above.

f) Students who have appeared for Solicitors I I.C.W.A. I C.S. Final Examinations conducted by The Bombay Incorporated Law Society! The Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India I The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, in the year 2008 and have obtained 60% and above in the Solicitors Examination and 55% and above in I.C.W.A. I C.S. Examinations.

g) Students who have appeared for Post-Graduate. Degree examinations held in India in Febl March I April 2008 in any academic course of study and have secured a First Class.

h) Students who have been honoured with Doctorate (Ph. D) in any field from a recognized University in India in the year 2008.

i) Students who have appeared for C.A. (final) examination held in India in the year 2008 and have cleared the said examination.

j) Students having any handicap I disability and have successfully cleared in the year 2008, any of the exams set out in clauses (a) to (i) above irrespective of the percentages mentioned in the said clauses.

Note: i) Students applying for all the above categories (except (f), (i) and (j) should have

cleared the examination in the first attempt only.

ii) All eligible awardees (students) should submit their Bio-data, photostat copies of relevant mark-sheets attested by the Principal in duplicate, along with the application.

iii) Students applying under category (j) should in addition to the documents set out in clause (ii) above also submit a medical certificate giving complete details of the handicap / disability suffered by such student. The medical certificate has to be of a registered medical practitioner who is an expert in the field of the handicap / disability suffered by such student.

iv) The sponsors of Navaz Jimi Kathawalla Memorial Award / prizes at their sale discretion may increase any of the cash prizes set out in clause (a) above in suitable / exceptional cases.

k) Teachers and Principals who have complied with the following eligibility criteria:

i) Who have in May 2008 completed 15 yrs / 25 yrs I 35 yrs of full time active teaching service only;

ii) The period of service should be after completion of formal and recognized training;

iii) Teachers I Principals who have received an Award from ZOSTA in the above categories of 15 yrs / 25 yrs I 35 yrs are. not eligible for the same category again;

iv) Superannuated Teachers I Principals must apply within one year of retirement only;

l) Teachers who have given outstanding service of training I imparting knowledge to students pertaining to Parsi / Zoroastrian religion I faith, and who have not been felicitated earlier by ZOSTA.

m) Teachers I Principals who in the year 2008, are recipients of any state / national award in the field of teaching.

JIMI N. KATHAWALLA MEMORIAL AWARDS

APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FROM PARSI / IRANI ZOROASTRIAN

a) Students who have appeared in HSC (Science) examinations held in the year 2008 and have secured admission (only on merits) in the First Year MBBS in any of the following medical colleges:

· AIIMS, Delhi

· Christian Medical College, Vellore

· AFMC, Pune

· JIPMER, Puducherry

· Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi

· Grant Medical College, Mumbai

· Kasturba Medical College, Manipal

· Madras Medical College, Chennai

· Seth GS Medical College, Mumbai

· Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi

b) Students who have appeared in HSC (Science) examinations held in the year 2008 and have secured admission (only on merits) in the First Year Engineering (degree course) in any of the following colleges:

  • Indian Institute of Technology (liT) Delhi I Kanpur I Mumbai I Kharagpur I Chennai I Roorkee I Guwahati.
  • College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai
  • Institute of Technology, BHU, Varanasi
  • Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore

A cash Award of Rs.1,00,000/, (Rupees one lac only) will be given to every eligible applicant in the above two categories.

Note: i) The above colleges are rated as India’s ten best colleges for the year 2008 in the field of Medicine and Engineering as per the survey conducted by India Today and published in its issue dated, June 2,2008.

ii) Students applying for both the above categories should have cleared the HSC examination in first attempt only.

iii) All eligible awardees (students) should submit their Bio-data, photostat copies of mark­sheets, proof of admission to medical / engineering college as aforestated duly attested by the Principal in triplicate, along with the application.

Note: The recipients of the awards I prizes shall remain present at the venue latest by 5.30 p.m. and have their names registered. Any recipient who fails to remain present at the said function will be able to collect his / her award /prize only in the function that will be held in the following year on presentation of a Photostat copy of the Application alongwith its Annexures submitted earlier to ZOSTA.

PUBLIC NOTICE

BOMBAY PARSI PUNCHAYET ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR TRUSTEES’ ELECTION FOR SEVEN CANDIDATES UNDER THE UNIVERSAL ADULT FRANCHISE SCHEME.

 

Pursuant to the Hon’ble Bombay High Court’s Order dated  30-04-2008 elections for all the seven trustees will be held as per the below-mentioned Election Schedule.

 

As per Clause No.14 of the Scheme for Election,any person who shall at the time of Election be a member of the Parsi Community,of not less than 30 years of age(this restriction of age does not apply to any Candidate who has attained the age of 25 years and whom a majority of not less than 2/3rds of the members of the Anjuman Committee desire to be so exempted,by a written requisition to the Trustees) and who shall have been Proposed and Seconded by members of the Anjuman Committee i.e General member or Donor Members,are eligible to stand as Candidates.

 

Such candidates have to fill in the prescribed form (available from Bombay Parsi Punchayet’s Office),accompanied by a cash deposit of Rs.5000/-. The deposit shall stand forfeited,if the candidates fail to secure atleast 5% of the total votes cast at such an election.

 

All those members on the General Register and Donor Register,who have so far not collected their Certificates, are requested to collect their respective Certificates to be eligible to exercise their franchise.

 

If the Certificate has been lost or destroyed,members on the General Register and Donor Register can apply on or before October 1,2008 for a duplicate certificate, application for which has to be filled in a prescribed form along with payment of a fee of Rs.10/-, As per the scheme in force, Members on the General Register and Donor Register will be allowed to vote only on production of their respective Certificates. No duplicate Certificates will be issued and / or collection of original certificates permitted after October 1,2008 inclouding on the Election days at the pollings centres. As per the scheme sanctioned by the Hon’ble High Court,only those Members whose names appear on the General Register and the Donor Register, as on 30-06-2008,will have voting right at the forthcoming Election. The registers will be frozen as on 30-06-2008 as per the sanctioned scheme.

 

If nominations are received from only seven duly qualified Candidates,in accordance with the sanctioned scheme,such Candidates will be declared duly elected.

 

In the event of their being more than seven Candidates,election will be conducted as per schedule given hereunder:

N.B.:

1) A member can exercise his/her voting right at any of the centres and dates specified above.

 

2) Certificates collected on production of Authority Letter by a third party should have the member’s signature duly attested either by a Notary or Special Executive Officer. Members whose certificates are not attested will not be allowed to vote.

 

3) In case of their being a tie, in the number of votes cast between two or more candidates, Rule 21(C) (xv) of the scheme would apply and the date of the result would be deferred by 4 days.In such an event the declarrationof the result on the Notice Board of the B.P.P. would be declared on 30-10-2008 and the same would be published in the Newspapers on 31-10-2008.

 

4) Members of the General & Donor Register who have been issued two or more separate certificates (one issued earlier and the other taken again subsequently) can vote only once and only one certificate will be treated as valid.

 

5) Voters have to elect seven Trustees by placing a cross each against one or more names but not exceeding seven names on the Ballot paper that will be supplied to them. If more than one cross is affixed against any name,the entire ballot paper will become invalid. Similarly, if crosses are affixed against more than seven candidates such Ballot papers will also be treated as invalid. Any identification mark other than a cross will invalidate the ballot paper.

 

6) Certificates laminated by members of the General & Donor Register will not be acceptable. In case a Certificate has been laminated, the member should destroy such certificate and obtain a duplicate certificate urgently in order to be eligible to Vote.

 

7) As per Clause 4(d) of the Scheme for the Election of the Trustees each Donor Member vote would be counted / treated as two votes. However, the donors have to affix only one cross against their selected name / names of the candidates, but not more than seven crosses.

 

8) Votes should note that only those certificates bearing the caption “General Register” or “Donor Register” would be treated as valid.

 

It is further notified that the full list of registered members on the General and Donor Register eligible to vote for the forthcoming Trustees’ Election is available on the Web and members can verify their enrollment or otherwise on the net address which is www.bppvoterslist. org
